I have a Christmas cactus my daughter, Jane, gave me quite a few years ago.
It was a small plant we transplanted.
It didn’t do much for a couple of years. Then, one November morning, I noticed buds on it.
It blossomed forth on Thanksgiving. As time goes by, it grows more fully, and this year there are blossoms galore.
Yes, it bloomed around Thanksgiving and is still budding and blooming right now.
So, I may actually have a Christmas cactus in bloom for the holiday this year.
Not matter, really. The thing that matters most to me is that it was given to me with love, and as time goes on, the beauty of that love shines forth, both in the nature of the plant and the gift that is my daughter.
Yes, I give thanks for both, whether it’s a Thanksgiving blossom or not.
My Christmas cactus is a gift, and that’s what Christmas is all about.
I have birthday wishes this week for Keith Keller, Gerry Wilber, Vanessa Zurita, Randal Louis, Victoria Gaskow, Adalyn Ogorn, Velma Cole, and John Furhman.
