The Bears Ears Patriots will host a presentation and discussion of the effect medical marijuana has had on the community at 7 p.m. Thursday at The Center of Craig, 601 Yampa Ave.

Farm Bureau picnic scheduled for today

The Moffat County Farm Bureau Federation’s annual picnic is scheduled for today at the Moffat County Fairgrounds covered picnic area.

Social hour will begin at 6 p.m., and dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m.

All Farm Bureau members are invited to attend and are asked to take a covered dish, salad or dessert.

Meat, tableware and beverages will be provided.

BLM to host field meeting Sept. 7

The Bureau of Land Management will be conducting a public field meeting next week to visit three parcels being considered in the White River Field Office for the May 2012 competitive oil and gas lease sale.

The meeting will provide participants an opportunity to see the parcels and express any concerns.

The tour will depart at 8 a.m. Sept. 7 from the White River Field Office, 220 Market St., Meeker.

Attendees should provide their own transportation, proper field attire, water, food and sunscreen.

Free crochet classes being offered

Free crochet classes will be offered from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday and Sept. 16 at 655 Ranney St., in the back south building.

The project will be a potholder. Supplies needed include a size I crochet hook and four-ply yarn.

Hens and Chicks to meet Friday

The Yampa Valley Hens and Chicks, the local chapter of the Farmgirl Sisterhood, will host its monthly meeting and a potluck lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church, 678 School St.
