Free crochet classes will be offered from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday and Sept. 16 at 655 Ranney St., in the back south building.

The project will be a potholder. Supplies needed include a size I crochet hook and four-ply yarn.

Hens and Chicks to meet Friday

The Yampa Valley Hens and Chicks, the local chapter of the Farmgirl Sisterhood, will host its monthly meeting and a potluck lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church, 678 School St.

CNCC hosts meetings this week

Colorado Northwestern Community College will host two meetings this week to address financial aid and enrollment questions.

The college hosts a financial aid presentation for students and parents Wednesday in room 114 at the new Craig campus, 2801 W. Ninth St. A group presentation is scheduled for 4 p.m., and drop-ins are welcome from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The free meetings are open to students interested in attending any college.

CNCC will host a meeting for students and parents interested in the college/Moffat County High School concurrent enrollment program at 6 p.m. Thursday at MCHS, 900 Finley Lane.

VNA offers free cardio screenings

In honor of National Cholesterol Education Month, the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is offering free cardiovascular screenings every Tuesday in September at the Community Health Center.

Screenings include total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides, blood glucose and body mass index.

All branches of Moffat County Libraries will be closed Sept. 3 to 5 in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

Horizons offers free developmental screenings

Horizons Specialized Services, 439 Breeze St., is offering free developmental screenings for children from birth to age 3.

The screenings will address questions about when children should be walking and speaking as well as concerns about hearing and vision.
