To the editor:
I wanted to take a moment to recognize a wonderful service the Craig Police Department provides this community.
My son and daughter were riding their bikes around Sunset Elementary School with their helmets on when they were approached by a police officer.
The officer asked them if they always wear their helmets.
When they answered yes, they were each given a coupon for a Wendy’s Frosty.
Our children, ages 5 and 7, respectively, are beginning to experience the peer pressure of not wearing helmets.
Having a police officer (whom they respect and hold in very high regard) reward the decision to wear helmets was just the motivation they needed to continue this safe practice.
As a parent, I appreciate the time spent by the office to reinforce the importance of wearing helmets.
Thank you to the Craig Police Department for supporting such an important message to children.
