Briefs for Aug. 15, 2011: County Road 4 to be chip-sealed

Starting today, the Moffat County Road Department will be chip-sealing 26 miles of Moffat County Road 4 in the northern part of Moffat County.

Crews will start at the intersection of Colorado Highway 13 north and County Road 4, and advise motorists to expect traffic delays.

Sub orientation set for Wednesday

Moffat County School District will host substitute teacher orientation at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the school administration building, 775 Yampa Ave.

Anyone wishing to be on the substitute list should attend the meeting.

There will be additional substitute training from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Church to host movie on the lawn

Calvary Baptist Church will host a movie on the lawn at 9 p.m. Friday at the church, 1050 Yampa Ave.

The family-friendly movie is free and open to the public.

Refreshments will be for sale as a fundraiser for the church’s missions team.

Firefighter’s Ball set for Saturday

The 72nd annual Firefighter’s Ball Luau is scheduled for 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday at the OP Bar & Grill, 534 E. Victory Way.

Carl Sokia will serve as disc jockey.

Tickets are $10 per person. All proceeds benefit the department’s scholarship fund.

Support group sets meeting day

The Depression and Bipolar Support Group meets from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday at The Memorial Hospital, 750 Hospital Loop.

The group is free and open to anyone.
