The baby weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces and was 20 inches long. Grandparents are Dixie Osmun, of Craig; Sheldon Sperry, of Green River, Wyo.; Rochelle Cookson, of Lakeview; and Terry Calvert, of Craig. The baby was welcomed home by a sibling, Kennedy Rayne Calvert.

The baby weighed 8 pounds, 11 ounces and was 19 inches long. Grandparents are Velda and Frank Hadley, of Craig, and Wendy Asplund, of Craig.
- Christie Snare and Lane Jeffcoat, of Hamilton, announce the birth of their son, Ryder Myron Jeffcoat, at 4:53 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2011, at The Memorial Hospital in Craig. The baby weighed 7 pounds, 10.6 ounces and was 20.75 inches long. Maternal grandparents are Carleen Chapman, of Craig, and Max W. Snare, of Steamboat Springs. Paternal grandparents are Danny Jeffcoat, of Hamilton, and Marsha Lee Jeffcoat, of Hamilton.

The baby weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces and was 19 inches long. Grandparents are Mark and Annalisa Orchard, of Baggs, Wyo.; Andrea White, of Glendive, Mont.; Karen Echard-Rice, of Morgantown, W.Va.; and Allen “Moe” Echard, of Morgantown, W.Va.

The baby weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces and was 19 inches long. Grandparents are Penny Burch, of Steamboat Springs, Billie Vreeman, of Hayden, and Kenny and Gloria Burch, of Craig. - Moffat County begins process of demolishing old jail

- The fate of the old Moffat County Jail has been a conversation topic since before Tom Gray was elected to the Moffat County Commission, he said. But, nobody was quite sure what to do with the metal, modular-constructed space connected to the north side of the courthouse and vacated in 2001 when the Moffat County Public Safety Center was built with a new jail facility, Gray said.

- Kate Nowak, a Steamboat Springs resident and executive director of Yampa Valley Partners, said Craig’s recycling center isn’t always convenient for families. “If you’re a busy household and you both work and you have a family, sometimes you don’t get over there,” Nowak said. For that reason, the Northwest Colorado Energy Steering Committee will soon be exploring the feasibility of curbside recycling in both Moffat and Rio Blanco counties as one of the action items on its regional energy education plan released last month.
- MCHS swimmer breaks school record, qualifies for state

- Matt Hulstine can now check three more items off his list of things to achieve in the 2011 swimming season after the Jeffco Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Arvada. The Moffat County High School sophomore qualified for the 4A state swim meet in the 200-yard individual medley and as part of the 200-yard freestyle relay. To top it off, Hulstine also broke his own MCHS record. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Hulstine swam a time of 1 minute, 2.07 seconds.

- My mother is bipolar with schizophrenic tendencies. My childhood was difficult. Days consisted of her drinking, gambling, being promiscuous and inviting homeless people to live with us. Mom would have conversations with herself for hours and roam the yard naked. She tore down walls and did things that made no sense, like gathering twigs to make gifts for people. Mon’s condition has gotten worse over the years, and she can become physically violent.
