- For those of us who grew up in the “Just Say No” era, it may be weird to see a movie that maintains that drugs are indeed the answer to life’s problems, but watching a film like “Limitless,” it’s impossible to take away any other moral. Sorry, Nancy Reagan. Struggling scribe Eddie Morra (Bradley Cooper) has the world’s worst case of writer’s block. Unable to find motivation to start his book, his days have been little more than killing time.

- State Auto Insurance recently named Joe Padon, an agent for Mountain West Insurance and Financial, a “PaceSetter” agent. “We were very selective in choosing our PaceSetter agents who come from only our very top agencies,” State Auto Chairman and CEO Robert Restrepo said in a news release. “This group is truly our ‘cream of the crop’ and we’re proud to have members of Padon’s caliber in the group, representing State Auto in Colorado.”

- Craig resident Donna Johnson said she was amazed at how many people volunteered Saturday to help tear down the Simmons Rooming House on Yampa Avenue. “We were expecting nine or 10 people, but we had about 16, all together,” she said. Johnson is the deconstruction superintendent for the Moffat County Fuller Center for Housing, a faith-based group that is renovating the Simmons House into affordable housing for local families.

- The quest for three state titles in a school year is underway in Baggs, Wyo. After the Little Snake River Valley School football team won the six-man state title in November 2010, the boys varsity basketball team followed up with a state title in March. Now, under the helm of Mike Bates, the Rattlers track and field team is seeking to complete the trifecta.

- “I got licensed for the business about Feb. 28, but I didn’t open for the public until the 28th of March. I’m not a licensed cosmetologist yet. I just own the business for now, until I get my license May 21. Then I’ll be a full-time stylist here. “Business has been good. We’ve been getting a lot of people for the tanning bed because it’s tanning season. Tan season around here is really big, and right before spring break it’s really busy. My dad had asked me where to get a tanning package, and so I thought I’d just open one myself. There’s been more tanning traffic.

- I’m not sure who out there saw the Warren Miller film on furniture racing, but it didn’t take long before ski lodge/dude ranch employees started putting skis on furniture. One particular winter, I was in charge of the rental shop and we’d just acquired a large number of new boots and skis from Obermeyer in Aspen. So, I took the responsibility of weeding out all the “bad bindings” and beat up “rock skis.” Not wanting any of our guests to use a questionable ski, I removed the question and held the ski back.

- am a junior in high school. I have been with my wonderful girlfriend, “Maria,” since our freshman year. Her parents won’t let her officially date until she is 16, which will be soon. Last year, at her 15th birthday party, I gave Maria a ticket to a formal dance. She was flattered, but her dad got angry, questioned me about my intentions and asked why I didn’t first get his permission to take her.
