- Marianne and Dennis Chadwick, of Phippsburg, announce the birth of their daughter, Mallory Anita Chadwick, at 5:46 p.m. Aug. 27, 2010, at Yampa Valley Medical Center in Steamboat Springs. The baby weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces and was 18.5 inches long. Grandparents are Ken and Anita Chadwick, of Craig, Pauline Breyare, of Phippsburg, Jim Breyare, of Massachusetts, and Inge and Adolf Banzhaf, of Sontbergen, Germany. The baby was welcomed home by her siblings, Nicholas and Hayley.

Paternal grandparents are Daryly Turnipseed, of Crawford, and Patricia Wallace, of Rifle. The baby was welcomed home by a sibling, Gavin D. Turnipseed.

- Moffat County close to launching new website

- After several months of planning, developing and data migration, Moffat County officials are almost ready to unveil the new county website. County website project manager Jennifer Riley said the website will go live to the public on Sept. 14. The county contracted with the Statewide Internet Portal Authority in March to provide an updated layout template and hosting services to the county and library’s web presence.

- Wayne Counts, a Moffat County wheat farmer, said there are a handful of farmers in the county left willing to try to make a living in farming. “There is definitely a reason there are only a few of us left,” he said. Counts said the economics of farming and ranching in the area are often difficult. But, despite the struggles he and many other farmers and ranchers may go through in a year, he loves the profession he grew up with, he said.

- Special Olympics Colorado is inviting the public to a town hall meeting later this week in Craig. The purpose of the meeting is to hear feedback from local residents on how the Special Olympics is performing and meeting the needs of athletes, families, caregivers, coaches, volunteers and supporters. The Craig meeting is one of 13 hosted around the state through Sept. 23.
