Anderson: Good owners needed

To the editor:

The Humane Society of Moffat County would like to remind everyone that we are offering reduced cost adoptions of our shelter animals through Sept. 15.

Shelter cats and dogs are available for $60. The adoption fee covers vaccinations and spay/neuter procedure. If there is an older pet or a pet with special needs, the adoption fee may be even lower. Pet may be seen on line at, or at the shelter located at 2430 E. Victory Way.

There are currently an abundance of dogs, puppies, cats and kittens to choose from.

Some are in foster care, but arrangements can be made to meet them.

Please think adoption first. You may be pleasantly surprised by the wonderful animals that end up in our shelter through no fault of their own.

By adopting a shelter pet, you are saving a life and doing your part to control pet over-population in our community.

I would love to own a shelter dog. There have been several Australian Shepards, the breed I prefer, on the Craig Shelter website over the past few years.
But right now with the schedule I work it would not be fair to the dog to keep it penned up 12 to 16 hours a day 4 to 6 days a week with no company.
That is what makes pets unmanagable and mean.
Perhaps when I retire I will locate a dog that works for me. But not right now.
