Sports Briefs: Bad Dogs Wrestling team takes 24 to season’s 1st tournament

The Bad Dogs Youth Wrestling program started its season strong at Saturday’s Wolfpack Wrestling’s Second Annual Beat’m Down for Breast Cancer Youth Wrestling Tournament in Edwards.

Cody Baker, Kyler Cox, Noah Duran, Sebastian Hadley, Mikinzie Klimper, Christopher Moschetti, Mathew Moschetti, Ethan Powers, Tyler Roberts, Drew Rothermund and Dagan White took home first-place finishes, with TJ Shelton finishing in first in both the 12-and-under and the 14-and-under age groups.

Thomas Baker, Jesus Duarte, Hugo Hernandez, Cort Murphy, Luke Pleasant, Laadan Rothermund and Sam Walls won second-place.

Anthony Duran, Devlyn Mosman, Hunter Roberts and Jake Shelton placed third.

Ruben Duarte finished in fourth.

The Bad Dogs will participate in the Steamboat Springs tournament Saturday and will host their own Fall Classic at 10 p.m. Sunday at Moffat County High School.

Wrestlers must be registered by 1 p.m. Friday. Check-in time is 8 a.m. General admission is $5.

CNCC soccer to play final game Sunday

The Craig branch of Colorado Northwestern Community College’s soccer team will play its last game of the season at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Street’s Sawer Soccer Park. The team will play the Craig Adults.

The team’s season record is 2-2, with two wins against CNCC’s Rangely team and a loss to the Steamboat Springs Co-Ed Adult Town League All-Stars. The team also lost to the Glenwood Springs branch of Colorado Mountain College on Sunday.
