Craig Fire/Rescue will celebrate the promotions of four firefighters at 6 p.m. Thursday at the fire station, 419 Yampa Ave.
Lt. Troy Hampton and Lt. Steve Lingo will be promoted to captains. Officer candidates Brian Slaight and Doug Willems will be promoted to lieutenants.
In an announcement from Craig Fire/Rescue on Tuesday, Chief Bill Johnston stated that he and two battalion chiefs considered seven candidates.
“The (battalion chiefs) and I had one goal in mind — choose the best four candidates for two captain positions and two lieutenant positions,” Johnston said. “Although we had some difficult decisions to make, we are convinced that we have achieved our goal.”
Troy Hampton has 11 years of service with Craig Fire/Rescue and has served as lieutenant for five years. Steve Lingo has eight years of service with the department, and four as lieutenant.
Brian Slaight has nine years of service, and has been an officer candidate for one year. Doug Willems has served Craig Fire/Rescue for 11 years, and has been an officer candidate for three years.
According to the announcement, the four firefighters are “highly skilled and knowledgeable.”
Attendees at Thursday’s ceremony will include friends, family and “invited guests.”
All officers will wear Class A uniforms for the event.
The promotions will take effect at the end of the ceremony.
