To the editor:
The theme for the Parade of Lights floats this year has been expanded to include characters from children’s stories and Christmas stories, not from just one author.
The Craig Lions Club and Downtown Business Association sponsor the Parade of Lights on the Saturday following Thanksgiving each year. The parade offers cash prizes for first-, second- and third- place and a traveling trophy for the best float, won by the Parrotheads in 2009, which is given at the starting point so it can be displayed on the float during the parade.
The parade gathers in the parking lot south of Craig Middle School, 915 Yampa Ave., at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27. The parade begins at 6 p.m. It travels south on Yampa, turns west on Victory Way, and turns north on Ledford.
Applications can be picked up at the Community Budget Center, 555 Yampa Ave., or at the gathering point before the parade. There is no charge for applications.
The annual Lions Christmas Tree and Wreath sale also begins at the Kmart parking lot just west of McDonald’s on Victory Way.
It will include some smaller trees and wreaths as well as the annual offerings of Scotch Pine and Douglas Fir.
