Have a great Memorial Day weekend and remember our fallen veterans.
Say a prayer for, not only our fallen veterans, but for all of our military, both here and in foreign countries.
They are the reason we are still a free country.
Veterans riding in Saturday parade
Veterans who wish to ride in the parade Saturday on the veterans trailer, please meet at the south parking lot at Craig Middle School.
Line up for the parade begins at 1 p.m.
Flag etiquette required this holiday weekend
Remember, veterans can salute the flag as it passes, even if they are in civilian clothes.
Respect for the flag includes placing a hand over the heart and, if wearing a cap, removing it and placing the cap over the heart.
Shuttle available to veterans for ceremony
The veterans van will be shuttling veterans to and from the Memorial Day ceremony Monday at Craig Cemetery. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m.
If you would like a ride, please call 824-3246 or 824-6776.
You will be picked up and brought home.
No Saturday bingo at VFW Post 4265
Unfortunately, due to all the activity this weekend, there will be no bingo games Saturday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4265.
Let me know about veterans names
Again, if you know of any veterans buried anywhere in Moffat County other than the cemetery, or if anyone was cremated and the remains are not at the cemetery, please call my office and I will add their name to the list.
Craig Telehealth Clinic reminder for vets
The Craig Community Telehealth Clinic offers U.S. veterans state-of-the-art technology as well as onsite nursing support and remote practitioner availability.
The goal is to provide an extensive array of health care services to veterans in a setting that is both accessible and professional.
To appropriately plan and coordinate your visit, access to the clinic is by appointment only. The clinic cannot handle emergency needs. Flu shot walk-ins are still on-going for veterans currently enrolled in the VAMC Healthcare system. Questions? Call 824-6721.
Tele-psych services now available
Veterans can now get tele-pysch services at the Craig VA Telehealth clinic. All they need to do is call (970) 263-2824 to set up a follow-up appointment for their mental health visit to be done there. If there are any questions, contact Jayne Scribner at VAMC Grand Junction via phone or email.
Her e-mail address is Jayne.Scribner@va.gov
For information on these programs and/or other veterans’ benefits, call or stop in the Moffat County VSO office at 480 Barclay St. (west of the Bank of Colorado parking lot).
Call 970-824-3246 or use the fax 970-824-7108. Our e-mail address is veterans@moffatcounty.net. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Other times can be arranged by appointment only.
Bring a copy of your separation papers (DD-214) for application for VA programs and for filing at our office.
