Playing Tuesday in Grand Junction, the Moffat County High School varsity baseball team was swept in a doubleheader against Delta.
With the two losses, MCHS’ playoff hopes took a hit, as the Bulldogs (8-9 overall, 6-8 in the Western Slope League) entered into a three-way tie for fourth-place with Glenwood Springs and Rifle.
The Bulldogs were hammered in game one against Delta (13-5 overall, 11-3 in the WSL), 14-3.
In the second game, the two teams were tied, 1-1, until the third inning, when Delta scored a run.
In the fourth, the Panthers added five more, and although the Bulldogs made a late push, the team couldn’t recover and lost, 7-5.
Coach Justin Folley said he would learn Wednesday if MCHS can make the playoffs.
“We have our all-conference meeting (Wednesday),” he said. “That’s when we name the all-conference team and find out if we made it.”
MCHS has now lost four games in a row.
