Co-worker: Hayden woman who died in rollover was an animal lover

Autopsy planned today for Kimberly Fournier

— Kimberly Fournier, the Hayden woman who died in a rollover north of the town Saturday evening, had a couple of cats and a couple of dogs, HiWay Bar kitchen manager Brian Brittingham said.

“She was a big animal lover,” he said Sunday.

Brittingham worked with Fournier at the HiWay Bar, which is owned by her sister, Lori Fournier. He said Kimberly moved to Hayden in the fall after visiting Lori. Kimberly Fournier wasn’t married and didn’t have any children, Brittingham said.

He declined to comment further because he hadn’t spoken to the family.

Lori Fournier couldn’t be reached for comment Sunday.

The Colorado State Patrol responded at about 5:35 p.m. Saturday to a call about a one-vehicle rollover wreck on Routt County Road 80, about three miles north of Hayden.

State Patrol Sgt. Scott Elliott told the Steamboat Pilot & Today on Saturday night that Fournier was ejected from the vehicle and pinned underneath it.

Elliott was out of town Sunday and unavailable for further comment.

According to a State Patrol news release, Fournier was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer east on C.R. 80. The release stated that the Blazer went off the right side of the road and rotated clockwise before rolling 1 1/2 times.

Fournier, 41,was pronounced dead at the scene. Coroner Rob Ryg said Sunday that an autopsy would be conducted today at the Grand County Coroner’s Office in Kremmling. Ryg said he hoped to have the results Tuesday.

The release stated that several alcoholic beverage containers were found inside and outside Fournier’s SUV at the scene. It stated that she wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck.

Elliott said Saturday that the roads were dry and weather conditions were good at the time of the wreck. The Routt County Sheriff’s Office, Hayden Police Department and West Routt Fire Protection District also responded to the scene.
