The Wyman Museum has decided to close its doors Monday through Thursday during the typically slow months of March and April, office manager Nicky Boulger said.
"A lot of museums close throughout the winter months because it is slow," she said. "Nobody is traveling, traffic isn't high, and we're a new facility so we felt things out for the last four or five years, and … it does cost to have the lights on and be open for the day."
Boulger said the closure is temporary and the museum will most likely re-open to seven days a week around early June.
The museum is also experiencing a hangover from hosting its annual Winter Festival, Boulger said.
"It takes a lot to put on a festival," she said. "I don't think a lot of people realize how much money it does cost to put on.
“We don't make anything off of it at all."

Question of the week
News this week showed snowpack in the Yampa River basin has reached 94 percent of median for the date. Do you think Moffat County is out of the woods as far as drought concerns?

MarilynnHill (Marilynn Hill) says…
The Wyman Museum has been such a blessing to the community of Craig and Moffat County, with Lou and Paula always giving back. We look forward to the full hours returning in June, but in the meantime, on the days it is open, lets make a full effort as a community to support this wonderful treasure!
