Competing Saturday at the Ralston Valley Relay meet in Aurora, the Moffat County High School varsity track and field team had several strong performances, coach Todd Trapp said.

“It was a pretty good meet,” he said. “There was a lot of good competition, and our kids did well.”

The boys four-by-mile relay team and girls discus relay each claimed first-place finishes.

The boys four-by-mile team, which consists of Corey Wojtkiewicz, Alex McCoy, Miguel Molina and Alfredo Lebron, all clocked sub-five-minute miles.

Lebron led the pack with a mile time of four minutes and 52 seconds.

The girls discus relay team of Lindsey Yoast, Kelley Syvertson, Kimberly Shaffner and Jessica Asselin had a solid all-around performance, Trapp said.

The girls and boys long-distance medley relay teams each finished second.

Maddy Jourgensen, Adrie Camp, Eryn Leonard and Sassy Murray comprise the distance medley, while the team of Wojtkiewicz, McCoy, Molina and Lebron make up the boys squad.

The team’s next meet will be March 27 at the Mickey Dunn Invitational in Grand Junction.
