Steamboat says ‘no’ to 700
City voters reject annexation 61 to 39 percent

The vote rejects what would have been the city’s most substantial annexation since the Mount Werner ski resort area was folded into city limits decades ago. Danny Mulcahy, Steamboat 700 principal and project manager, said earlier today that his development team was not yet sure what its next step would be if voters denied Steamboat 700.

Although coach Meghan Francone would like to see the Moffat County High School boys varsity swimming team compete well in every category, there is one event she expects the team to dominate this season. Last year, the MCHS 4-by-200 team of Charlie Griffiths, Chance Peterson, John Kirk and Cole Worsely placed 19th at the state meet.

The Craig Cougars bantam hockey team completed its season Sunday with a loss to Crested Butte in Gunnison during the Frozen Four tournament. The team advanced to the third round of the double elimination tournament, so­­­me­thing head coach Jason Porter said his players should be proud of.

Daffodils to benefit Hospice will be on sale today at City Market, Safeway and the Visiting Nurse Association offices in Craig, as well as the Hayden Merchantile. Daffodils are $5 a bunch.
