Craig Briefs: Ceremony today for Little Rascals Pond

A dedication ceremony is scheduled to take place at noon today for an improvement project that’s been years in the making at the Little Racals Pond at the Moffat County Public Safety Center, 800 W. First St.

The event is open to the public.

Hearing today on MCSD budget

The Moffat County School Board will host a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. today at the school district administration building, 775 Yampa Ave.

On the agenda is a public hearing for the 2010-11 school year budget.

The budget, which includes cuts amounting to $1.1 million due to decreased state and local revenue, will be up for board approval at the June 24 regular meeting.

Chamber offers business mixer today

The Craig Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors is offering a business after-hours mixer from 5 to 7 p.m. today.

Bank of America is hosting the event at 509 Yampa Ave.

The mixer will have a carnival atmosphere with hot dogs, popcorn, snowcone machine, balloons and games.

Children are welcome, and there will also be door prizes.

State parks to hold inspection event

A “Muscle the Mussels” event, sponsored by Colorado State Parks, is scheduled to take place at 7:30 p.m. today at Elkhead Reservoir Ampitheatre.

“It’s that time again when Elkhead is busy with boats,” a news release from State Parks stated. “Come learn all about the new boat inspection procedures and what has changed this year. This would be very helpful for new boat owners.”

The event is open to the public. A daily parks pass or annual pass is required.
