Craig Briefs: Business mixer set for Thursday

The Craig Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors is offering a business after-hours mixer from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.

Bank of America is hosting the event at 509 Yampa Ave.

The mixer will have a carnival atmosphere with hot dogs, popcorn, snowcone machine, balloons and games.

Children are welcome, and there will also be door prizes.

Hayden hosting its own Huck Finn Day

Hayden Parks and Recreation and the Colorado Division of Wildlife will host the annual Huck Finn Day beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hayden Town Park.

Area youths are invited to participate and learn the sport of fishing.

Prizes are awarded for the biggest, smallest and first trout caught.

Participants are encouraged to dress up like Huck Finn or Becky Thatcher and enter to win a look-a-like contest as well.

Fishing will be followed by a free barbecue to all participants. Third Street will be closed and the public is advised to park at Hayden High School, or the elementary school.

Annual Cog Run slated for Saturday

Hayden Parks and Recreation and the Steamboat Springs Running Series will be offering the 32nd annual Hayden Cog Run starting at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Races include the 8.4-mile Cog Run, a challenging 10K and a 5K fun run/walk, according to a news release.

Pre-register online at www.runningseries.com, at Hayden Town Hall, or Ski Haus in Steamboat Springs. On-site registration will be available between 9 and 9:30 a.m. on race day.

The cost is $25. Third Street will be closed and the public is advised to park at Hayden High School or the elementary school.
