John Hickenlooper, Democratic candidate for governor, will be in Craig next week for two events. Hickenlooper will appear for a meet and greet from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Center of Craig, 601 Yampa Ave. Moffat County Democratic Party Chairman Ted Crook said the meeting is open to the public and members of any political party are welcome to attend.
New TMH board chair steps forward

Missy Bonaker said she is finding her new position as The Memorial Hospital board’s chairwoman “a little overwhelming.” But, despite only being chairwoman for two board meetings, Bonaker is making adjustments along the way, she said. “I am definitely learning to talk louder,” she said with a laugh before the hospital board’s regular meeting Wednesday. The soft-spoken Bonaker, 61, took the reins as the board’s chairwoman June 15 after a unanimous approval from the board.
College soccer coming to Craig
Bill Sawer to lead new CNCC program offering class credit

Craig resident Bill Sawer knows soccer. He built his own field of dreams in his backyard and, this fall, will again welcome players on it. Now, he’s adding to his resume in the sport. Sawer, who has coached for more than 40 years, will take the helm of Colorado Northwestern Community College’s soccer team this fall at the Craig campus.

Sports briefs: Volleyball skills camp begins Monday

The Moffat County High School girls volleyball team will participate in a skills camp from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. The camps, which are for incoming freshmen and older players, will be at MCHS, 900 Finley Lane. The camp is free.

Dear Annie: My daughter, “Betty,” is having a terrible problem with her sister-in-law, “Linda” (her husband’s sister). Linda is very manipulative, thinks she’s never wrong and can be downright hateful. Recently, Linda’s husband was given a very bad diagnosis, and she used this situation as an opportunity to verbally attack Betty. She brought up things that were resolved years ago and wouldn’t shut up until my daughter agreed with her on everything.
