Craig Briefs: Kiwanis Club set to host golf tourney

The 16th annual Craig Kiwanis Club Scholarship Golf Tournament is set for an 8 a.m. shotgun start Aug. 7 at Yampa Valley Golf Course.

The format is a four-person scramble and is open to anyone who wants to play.

The cost is $70 per player for adults and $35 per player for ages 16 and younger.

Each team must include at least one adult player. The first 25 teams to pay will play.

The tournament is dedicated to the late Dan Ovenden.

There will be prizes for first and second net and gross scores, longest drive, closest to the pin and longest putt. There will also be mulligans and door prizes.

Food distributions continue in county

Moffat County’s United States Department of Agriculture food distributions continue this week.

The Maybell distribution will be from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Maybell Community Center.

The Dinosaur distribution is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the county office.

Newspaper hosting candidate chats

The Craig Daily Press is hosting a series of online chats with candidates for Moffat County positions on the Aug. 10 Republican primary ballot.

The final chats are scheduled for:

• 5 to 7 p.m. today with Tom Mathers, incumbent candidate for Moffat County Commission, District 3.

• 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday with Robert Razzano and Carol Scott, candidates for Moffat County assessor.

• 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday with Audrey Danner, Tony St. John and Tami Barnes (write-in candidate for the general election), candidates for Moffat County Commission, District 2.
