John Hickenlooper, a democratic candidate for Colorado governor, is scheduled to visit Craig from 5 to 6 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Center of Craig, 601 Yampa Ave.
The event is open to the public.
Honor Flight seeking veterans
The Western Slope Honor Flight is looking for World War II veterans and guardians for the third flight to Washington, D.C., scheduled for Oct. 5 and 6.
Applications for veterans and guardians can be obtained at www.westernslopehonorflight.com, or by calling Kris Baugh at (970) 434-2916 or Kathy Iles at (970) 216-1743.
Applications should be mailed to: Western Slope Honor Flight, P.O. Box 3950, Grand Junction, CO., 81502.
The trip is free for veterans, but guardians are asked to pay a $95 fee to accompany veterans and provide care.
“The mission of the Honor Flight is to transport America’s veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit those memorials dedicated in their honor,” according to a news release. “The goal of (the Honor Flight) is to make this dream a reality for members of ‘The Greatest Generation,’ who have waited so long for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The program’s top priority is to transport our nation’s most senior heroes and terminally ill veterans of all conflicts.”
Food distributions set to begin today
Moffat County’s United States Department of Agriculture food distributions begin today with the Craig distribution, scheduled to take place from 9 to 11 a.m. at 595 Breeze St., at the northeast alley entrance.
The Maybell distribution will be from 9 to 9:30 a.m. July 28 at the Maybell Community Center.
The Dinosaur distribution is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 28 at the county office.
