Craig briefs: Daily Press hosting online chats


The Craig Daily Press is hosting a series of online chats with candidates for Moffat County positions in the coming weeks.

The next chats are scheduled for 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday with Lila Herod, a candidate for Moffat County clerk and recorder, and 5 to 6 p.m. July 19 with Tim Jantz, Moffat County’s incumbent sheriff. Both races are uncontested for the Aug. 10 Republican primary.

Participants may submit questions to be asked of Herod and Jantz before or during the chats.

Full transcripts of the chats will be available after the chats have closed. A full transcript from Tuesday’s chat with Moffat County surveyor candidate Peter Epp is available as well.

The Daily Press intends to host online chats with all of Moffat County’s candidates before the Aug. 10 primary election.

Bible school set to begin today

Craig Christian Church, 960 W. Victory Way, is hosting vacation Bible school for kindergarten through sixth-grade students today through Thursday.

Sessions will begin at 9 a.m. and end at noon.

Fund established for medical expenses

Craig resident Mel L. Duran was recently diagnosed with leukemia, and is undergoing treatment at University Hospital in Denver. A fund has been established to help Duran with medical costs.

Donations can be made to Yampa Valley Bank, 435 Mack Lane in Craig, in care of Mel Duran.

Reunion committee meeting Wednesday

The Moffat County High School class of 1980 reunion committee is scheduled to host its final reunion meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Alice Pleasant Park in downtown Craig. All interested classmates are asked to attend to finalize plans for this week’s 30-year reunion.
