If speed is what fans want, speed is what they’ll get, Hayden Speedway president Tyrrell Kochenower said. “We have a lot of fast cars coming,” he said. “With that many fast cars on the track, there are bound to be some wrecks.” At 7 p.m. tonight and 6:30 p.m. Saturday, the Hayden Speedway, 37900 Routt County Road 53, will host the International Motor Contest Association Modified Showdown.

Several counties have partnered to form a new committee to keep watch over broadband Internet services in rural areas of Northwest Colorado. Committee member Audrey Danner said the committee serves two purposes — communicating with state officials and keeping an eye on local broadband services.

Chip sealing street projects begin Monday in Craig

Beginning next week, the City of Craig’s Road and Bridge Department will be chip sealing streets around town. Starting Monday, workers will be coating locations with new material — a water-based, palmerized emulsion — to help keep up with street maintenance.
Top seeds set to battle in baseball finale

Craig briefs: Fund established for medical expenses

Fund established for medical expenses Craig resident Mel L. Duran was recently diagnosed with leukemia, and is undergoing treatment at University Hospital in Denver. A fund has been established to help Duran with medical costs. Donations can be made to Yampa Valley Bank, 435 Mack Lane in Craig, in care of Mel Duran.
