Scott Fauble, a senior from Wheat Ridge High School, has been named as the 2009-2010 Gatorade Colorado Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year.
Fauble claimed the Class 4A state title with a time of 15:24, which was 19 seconds faster than the next competitor at Fossil Ridge High School.
Fauble also claimed first-place finishes at the Pre-State Fossil Ridge Invitational, the Cherry Creek Invitational, the Dave Sanders Invitational and the Liberty Bell Invitational.
“Scott is a champion, a gentleman and a caring person,” Wheat Ridge coach Scott Chamberlain said in a news release. “His athletic accomplishments have been exceptional, but you’ll commonly find him out on the course cheering and encouraging our slowest, most inexperienced JV runners long after he’s won the varsity race and defeated some of the state’s best runners.”
Fauble is the third winner of the award since its inception in 2007.
He follows former 2008-09 runner of the year Evan Appel, from Dakota Ridge, and 2007-08 winner Kevin Williams, from D’Evelyn.
