Craig briefs: Bake sale for Haiti victims is today

Karen Sakran will be selling baked goods starting at 9:30 a.m. today outside of City Market, 505 W. Victory Way.

Proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross and the Adventist Development and Relief Agency, two organizations helping to provide relief to victims of the earthquake in Haiti.

Love INC gave out more than 525 coats

Love INC distributed more than 525 coats, as well as many mittens, gloves and hats, from October through December 2009.

The organization is continuing to distribute coats in Craig.

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church/Lutheran Church of Grace, 580 Green St., is hosting the distribution through March.

Coats will be available from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. every Thursday and Friday for anyone who needs one. Coats are limited to one per person. Parents may pick up a coat for a child.

The group also is accepting donations of “gently used” coats, hats and gloves to help those in need. Donations may be dropped off at the church, or at the Love INC office, 656 School St.

AARP to hear about local census efforts

Craig AARP Chapter No. 1418 is scheduled to meet at 2 p.m. Monday at Sunset Meadows I, 633 Ledford St.

Ray Beck, the Moffat County Complete Count Committee chairman, will present a program regarding the 2010 U.S. Census. AARP members also are encouraged to remember the club’s annual food drive.

SHARE orders can be picked up Saturday

SHARE Craig’s Food Distribution Day is scheduled for Saturday.

Orders may be picked up between 1 and 2 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 678 School St.
