Craig briefs: Historical group to recognize members

Preserving the Last Frontier is scheduled to host its monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 30 in the second-floor conference room at Sunset Meadows I, 633 Ledford St.

The meeting’s program will recognize members who are in their 90s and include a brief story of their lives. Members to be recognized are Perry VanDorn, Harold Babcock, Stella Craig, Harry Russell, Addie Mann and Marie Schneider.

The meeting is open to the public.

Family Literacy Carnival today

The Sagebrush Reading Council is hosting a Family Literacy Carnival from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Sunset Elementary School. It is open to pre-school through fifth-grade students. Activities include game booths, pictures and face painting.

Refreshments also will be available.

Students may bring a book to trade and may also select one new book to take home.

“This is an excellent opportunity for families to have a fun-filled evening and receive a new book for the family library,” according to a news release.

County clerk taking credit, debit cards

The Moffat County Clerk and Recorder’s Office now will accept any Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit or debit card to pay for motor vehicle services, such as title transactions, registrations or renewals.

The office also takes cash, checks or money orders.

If residents cannot make it to the office, a clerk official can accept card payments over the phone. The office can be reached at 824-9104.

All card payments carry a 2.7 percent transaction fee, which will be added to the total payment.

Other clerk’s office services, such as marriage licenses, still must be paid by cash, check or money order.

EDP seeking new board members

Members of the Craig/Moffat Economic Develop­ment Partnership will host a get-together for potential EDP members at 2 p.m. Feb. 4 at Yampa Valley Bank, 435 Mack Lane.
