Ritter appoints area man to commission
Gov. Bill Ritter announced the appointments Friday of several people to the state wildlife commission.
The governor appointed Dr. Allan J. Jones, of Meeker, and David Brougham, of Lakewood, to terms that expire March 1, 2014. Chaffee County commissioner Timothy R. Glenn was re-appointed to a term expiring in 2014.
Ritter also named Yuma County commissioner Dean Wingfield to a term expiring in March 2011.
The nine-member commission is responsible for licensing requirements and setting rules, regulations and orders concerning wildlife programs. The appointments require state confirmation.
Organizers seeking winter donations
The Craig Community Blood Drive is scheduled to take place from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Center of Craig, 601 Yampa Ave.
Organizers said blood donations drop by 20 percent in the winter, and encouraged local residents to contribute to the blood drive.

Best Western hosts a Chamber mixer
The Craig Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors is scheduled to host a business after-hours mixer from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Best Western Deer Park Inn and Suites, 262 Commerce St.
“Come help them celebrate their 13 year ‘new’ anniversary,” the Chamber reported in a news release.
There will be door prizes, anniversary cake, sparkling cider, Champagne and hors d’oeuvres. An “Anniversary Grand Prize” drawing for a night’s stay in a suite Saturday, full hot breakfast buffet, evening beverages and snacks and $50 in Chamber Spree Dollars also will take place.
