KS Kreations owner Kandee Dilldine won the fourth annual Taste of Chocolate on Saturday night with her chocolate tort with caramel sauce.
Eric Daszkiewicz, who was stationed at Carelli’s Pizzeria and Pasta, earned second place, and Dilldine’s daughter, Kassie Vesely, was third. Dilldine won $100, which she said she’ll use to take her daughter out to lunch.
“It feels great,” she said. “I’m so excited because I thought it was great, but I didn’t know if anyone else thought it was great.”
Dilldine poured fresh caramel sauce — that she made from scratch with sugar, whipping cream and sea salt — over the tiny tort in front of each customer, which she said probably gave her an edge.
“I think the caramel being poured on top of it for each person — and it was kind of warm — did it for me,” she said. “I had fun with it. I just like baking.”
Event organizer Nadine Daszkiewicz said the tickets sold out earlier than ever this year. She hopes to find ways to improve the event, including possibly selling more tickets and adding more prizes, for next year’s event.
