Hoops teams host Sailors tonight

MCHS squads hope to square season series against Steamboat Springs

The Moffat County High School girls varsity basketball team will look to get back into the playoff hunt tonight when Steamboat Springs pays the Bulldogs a visit.

The slate of Tuesday night games start at 3 p.m., when the girls junior varsity team plays the Sailors, followed by the boys junior varsity at 4:30 p.m., the girls varsity team at 6 p.m. and the boys varsity team at 7:30 p.m.

The Moffat County girls varsity (9-13 overall, 7-5 in the Western Slope League) is coming off weekend losses to Glenwood Springs and Rifle.



The loss against Rifle was the team’s first loss at home this season.

The Sailors (14-6, 9-3 in the WSL) are jockeying for a spot in the class 4A playoffs.



Steamboat won a Jan. 26 game between the two rivals by a score of 45-34.

The Moffat County boys take the court following the girls game.

The boys (5-16 overall, 3-9 in league play) are 2-1 in their past three games, including a 67-64 win Saturday at home against Rifle.

Steamboat (12-8, 9-3 in the WSL) beat Moffat County, 49-39, on Jan. 26.

All games will be played at the MCHS gymnasium, 900 Finley Lane.
