There’s more to the library than meets the eye.
This month, I want to highlight our branch libraries — especially the new renovations at Maybell — and invite everyone to visit the Craig branch for the upcoming Chamber of Commerce mixer.
Branch libraries
Did you know that the Moffat County Libraries actually are three different libraries working together?
We have branches in Craig, Maybell and Dinosaur. Your library card works at all three branches, so next time you’re traveling through, why not stop by one of our other libraries and check out the selection?
And don’t forget, you always can return borrowed materials at any of our branches (just give us a few days to ship it back, so you won’t get late fees).
If you’re making a special trip to the Dinosaur or Maybell libraries, make sure they’re open first.
The hours at the Dinosaur branch are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. It is located at 400 W. School St., and the phone number is 374-2700.
The hours at the Maybell library are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays. It is located at 202 Collom St., and the phone number is 272-9919
We also offer borrowing services between branches — if you find a book in our catalog that isn’t on the shelf at your local branch, just ask one of the library employees, and we will be glad to request it from Maybell or Dinosaur for you.
Deliveries are made to and from the branch libraries every few weeks or so, and we’ll give you a call when your book comes in.
More from Maybell
The library building at Maybell is undergoing some exciting new renovations. The second bathroom is back in working order, so there now are separate restrooms for men and women.
Both bathrooms have fresh paint jobs, new linoleum and updated bathroom fixtures.
To make even more needed improvements, the Maybell library will be closed from March 29 through April 17. We’ll be painting walls and shelves, and putting in all new carpet — a whole new look.
To Maybell residents, please be patient with us during this renovation closure.
Stop in before March 29 to stock up on your reading material (don’t worry, you will be allowed to check out more books, and we’ll let you keep them longer, too, because of the extended closure).
And don’t forget, you always can use your library card at the Craig library, where we have a large selection of books, audios, CDs, videos and DVDs you can borrow.
The hours at the Craig branch are from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays; 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays; and 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays.
The Craig branch is located at 570 Green St., and the phone number is 824-5116.
You’re invited
We are hosting a Chamber of Commerce mixer at the library, and everyone is invited.
The mixer will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Craig branch.
We will provide food, drinks and door prizes. Entertainment will be provided by Celtic harpist, Charleah Firestone. Visiting author Claudia Hall Christian will be signing copies of her new book “Learning to Stand.”
For more information, call the library at 824-5116.

Question of the week
Should the Craig Chamber of Commerce revise its State of the County attendance policy to allow people to hear speakers without paying for a ticket?
