In its search to fill the vacant director position, the Moffat County Tourism Association has narrowed its pool of 28 applicants down to five finalists.
The MCTA board met Friday and selected Deborah Lueck, Denise Jones, Marilyn Hill, Melody Villard and another candidate as the finalists.
The other candidate does not want her name released publicly because of current employment issues, MCTA board chairwoman Annie MacGregor said.
The MCTA board plans to interview the five finalists monday.
Villard is an MCTA board alternate, which restricts her from voting on board issues.
The finalists were selected from a pool that included applicants from across the country.
“I felt the evaluations went great,” MacGregor said. “We tried to keep the evaluations based on merit and qualifications alone.”
MacGregor also said that much of the applicants’ personal information was kept from the board.
The director position is charged with the development of tourism within Moffat County through advertising, sponsorships and working with the media, MacGregor said.
The MCTA director’s position last was held by Michelle Balleck, current Craig Daily Press online content producer, who resigned in November 2009.
