Swimming at the regional competition Friday and Saturday, Moffat County High School girls varsity swimming missed sending the 200-meter medley relay team to state by less than a second.
The team of Hannah Kirk, Tasha Romney, Eryn Leonard and Mary Penner clocked in at 2:05.19 — .19 of a second behind the qualifying time.
Moffat County will still be well represented at this weekend's state meet in Loveland, as senior diver Genna Bradley (first in Grand Junction) and freshman Eryn Leonard both made the cut earlier in the year.
The team did however, swim its best in Grand Junction, coach Anita Reynolds said.
Kirk finished 14th in the 100-meter butterfly and 200-meter medley and sixth in the 400-meter freestyle relay.
Romney finished 15th in the 200-meter freestyle and eighth in the 100-meter breaststroke.
Leonard finished third in the 200-meter freestyle. Penner finished ninth in the 50- and 100-meter freestyle.
Diver Larissa Grammer finished fifth.
