Sports Briefs: Bulldogs club hockey blanks Steamboat

The Moffat County Bulldogs club hockey team recorded its second shutout of the season in its 5-0 win Wednesday against Steamboat Springs.

Goalie Trent Parrott had 10 saves on the night, bringing his season total to 40. Scorers include Steve Wagner, Conner Pogline, Brenden Spencer, and brothers Jarret and CJ Walt.

Bubba Ivers and Matthew Balderston led in assists, with two each. Nathan Tomlin and Cade Bangs also each earned an assist.

Tomlin, Ivers and CJ Walt led the team in points with six each.

The Bulldogs’ are undefeated so far this season, with a 3-0 record. The team will play the Kremmling Cattle Kings at 6 p.m. tonight at the Moffat County Ice Arena, 600 S. Ranney St.

Trailbusters season begins in January

Registration is open for Craig Parks and Recreation’s 2011 Trailbusters season.

The program teaches skiing and snowboarding skills to youths ages 6 to 15. Lessons will be in Steamboat Springs for five Saturdays: Jan. 22 and 29, and Feb. 5, 19 and 26.

The registration fee is $225 for the classes and $45 for transportation to Steamboat. Lift tickets are $27. Equipment rentals are the responsibility of the participants. The deadline to register is Jan. 5.
