Craig Briefs: Volunteers needed to plan Relay for Life

Moffat County Relay for Life is looking for volunteers to serve on the planning committee for the 2011 event, scheduled for July 15 and 16.

Anyone interested in being on the planning committee should contact Ken Prescott at 620-3292, or e-mail him at djkenny@yahoo.com.

The first planning meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 4 at The Memorial Hospital, 750 Hospital Loop Road.

Fundraiser today for fire victims

A fundraising auction for Chance and Riley Abney is scheduled for 6 p.m. today at the Golden Cavvy Restaurant, 538 Yampa Ave.

The Abneys lost their home in a total loss fire Dec. 2.

The auction is designed to raise money for the family to replace clothes, furniture and other items, as well as to buy Christmas presents.

Santa Claus coming to the Daily Press

Attention, children of Craig.

Santa Claus has asked the newspaper to help him gather Christmas letters.

Bring your letter, which should include your first name and age, to Santa to the Craig Daily Press office at 466 Yampa Ave., after school today.

Santa will make a special stop at the Daily Press beginning at 2:30 p.m. today to pick up the letters.

The letters will be printed in the newspaper leading up to Christmas.

A special surprise will be given to the first children to bring in their letters.

Supplies are limited.

This special promotion is available to children ages 10 and younger.

Newspaper seeking next Board members

The Craig Daily Press is seeking three or four people to participate on its next Editorial Board, which begins Jan. 3.

Editorial Board members meet from noon to 1 p.m. Mondays to discuss the newspaper’s opinion pieces for its Wednesday and Saturday editions.

Editorial Board terms last three months. A wide variety of candidates for board positions are desired.
