Lawrence Sober: Tired of ‘Muslim rights’
To the editor:
I, for one, am tired of hearing about Muslim rights and violations thereof.
The current administration is dropping criminal charges against known terrorists because of the methods used during interrogations. Namely water boarding, because some believe that we should simply ask these people if they think they are guilty or not.
Not once have I heard anyone mention the torture methods that have been used against our military once they were captured.
Terrorists do not care about any international agreements such as the Geneva Convention. First of all, they have never signed any such agreement. Setting off bombs in public places is more of their preferred type of warfare.
Our compassion for other people has become our weakness and that is the area our enemies continue to use against us.
This country is at war and not only along the southern border. We listen to too many people who know nothing about war because they have never been in one.
The Fort Hood attacker now has people who feel sorry for him because he is paralyzed from the waist down. The only reason he is alive is because the police officer who shot him was not a very good shot.
Now the taxpayers will be paying to protect him for the rest of his life. What about the victims who lost their lives at the hands of this man who was trusted enough to be an officer in our military?
It will take an attack on the level of Pearl Harbor before this nation puts an end to this non-sense. Until someone with enough political clout dies, nothing will change.
We have a legal system in this country, but we do not use it. We do not need to change our justice system for the benefit of Muslim law.
We need to enforce the laws we now have.
