Ryan Hampton: Hunting takes skill

To the editor:

Evidently you have not hunted black bear.

You don’t have any idea of the skill involved in tracking bears, nor the guts it takes to be able to hold his composure enough to make the shot necessary to harvest this animal.

Do you know for a fact that the meat was not used to feed his family? We as hunters don’t kill just to kill. We do it as a sport, as well as to feed our families.

Please don’t judge a person by one newspaper article.

Mr. Kendall harvested this bear in a totally legal manner and congrats to him on an awesome trophy.

Congratulations to this man for standing up and saying what is correct and true. Nothing illegal or immoral was done when that bear was shot.
I still say, some of the people that wrote posts against it just have a big bad case of sour grapes because they didn't have the chance at this possibly record bear.

Thank you Ryan! You are absolutely correct about it all. Richard is my dad and I do know that the meat was processed and being used for food. Thank you for standing up for him
