Craig Briefs: Holistic Fitness hosts Inner Diva classes

Holistic Health & Fitness is hosting a free informational meeting for its Inner Diva classes, which will be offered this fall.
The meeting is at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Holistic, 420 Breeze St.
Program classes include Sexy 101, belly dancing and pole fitness and are open to women of all sizes.
Participants must be age 18 or older.

Fundraising sale today at Church
First Congregational United Church of Christ is hosting its second Junk in the Trunk yard sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the church, 630 Green St.
Space at the sale rents for $5 and tables are also available for $5. Set up begins at 7 a.m.

Money raised from the sale goes to the church’s capital campaign to replace its boiler system.
Boat ramp open through September
The boat ramp at Elkhead Reservoir will remain open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through September.
The lake will officially close Oct. 1.
It will remain open to hand-launch vessels.

Lions Club plans 3rd annual duck race
The Craig Lions Club will host the third annual Ducky Race on Sept. 18 at Loudy-Simpson Park.
The Craig Lions Club is again offering a choice of military ducks at $8 per ticket. The ducks will be released more than a mile up river at noon to race to the finish line at the canoe launch parking lot.
Participate in the raffle with prizes of $750 for the first duck to cross the finish line, $500 for second and $250 for third.
To purchase a duck, contact any member of Lions, drop by Shepherd & Sons Heating & Air Conditioning, or call 824-5814.
The raffle supports the Lions’ eyeglasses program.
Daily Press accepting school supply donations
The Craig Daily Press is accepting donations for Love INC’s school supply drive through Sept. 3.
Project School Supply is a program that collects school supplies and new backpacks for underprivileged children in the area.
Those who are willing to donate to the program can either collect items on the donation list, available at the Daily Press, and deliver it to one of the drop-off locations, or can donate $25 to provide one child with his or her needed supplies.
Those who want to donate can deliver materials to the Daily Press, 466 Yampa Ave.; Love INC, 656 School St.; Walgreens Drug Store, 750 W. Victory Way; or Wal-Mart Supercenter, 2000 W. Victory Way.
To apply for any of these programs or for more information, call Love INC at 826-4400.
Craig coffee party set to meet today
The Craig coffee party will meet at noon today at Serendipity Coffee Shop, 576 Yampa Ave.
The group encourages spirited discussion from diverse points of view.
American Legion bingo slated for today
American Legion Post 62 is hosting bingo tonight at the Elks Lodge, 43 W. Victory Way.
The progressive jackpot is now more than $1,400.
Doors open at 5 p.m., and games begin at 6:15 p.m.
The event is open to the public.

Last Frontier monthly meeting today
The Preserving the Last Frontier history group will host its monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. today in the second-floor conference room at Sunset Meadows I, 633 Ledford St.
Pat (Coles) Steele, along with other family members, will be the guest speakers. They will speak about the role their parents, Russell and Catherine Coles, played in the history of Moffat County.
The meeting is open to the public.

MCHS announces Homecoming dates
Moffat County High School Homecoming activities will take place Sept. 27 through Oct. 2, according to a news release from the high school.
The 2010 Homecoming theme is “Bulldog Luau.”
The parade is scheduled for Oct. 1. Community members are encouraged to participate.
Parade entry forms may be picked up in the first-floor office at MCHS.
The fee is $25 for school floats and $30 for non-school floats. Entry forms must be turned into the first-floor office by Sept. 28.

Square dance dates slated in Hayden
The Greenridge Mountaineers have set dates for September for square dances in Hayden.
At 6 p.m. Sept. 17, the group will host a potluck supper and a free introduction to square dancing at Yampa Valley Feeds, 198 Lincoln Ave., Hayden.
Every following Friday, beginning at 7 p.m. Sept. 24, the Greenridge Mountaineers will host square dances, including lessons for newcomers, at the American Legion Hall, 220 S. Third St., Hayden.
Jim and Kathie Kline of Rawlins, Wyo., will be callers for the dancers.
