TMH board approves action items at Aug. 25 meeting in Craig

At its regular meeting Wednesday, The Memorial Hospital board:

• Approved, 5-0, medical staff privileges for 12 clinicians and staff members.

• Tabled a request by Mitch Edgeworth, a regional vice president for Quorum Health Resources, to move the regular meetings from the last Wednesday of each month to the last Thursday of each month. The board agreed to meet on Oct. 28, Nov. 30, and Dec. 30, and will reconsider the proposed change during the final meeting of 2010.

• Approved, 6-0, a recommendation from the joint conference committee to finalize the qualifications for radiology clinical privileges.

• Approved, 6-0, recommendations from the Finance Committee to lease two new pieces of equipment.

The first is an orthopedic surgery power tool that TMH will lease for 36 monthly payments of $1,349.05 per month, with an option of a $1 buyout at the end of the term. The surgical tool, an upgrade from the current model used by TMH surgeons, will not be a replacement, but a newer model. It will be the primary tool, and the older model will be employed if the primary tool is in sterilization, or has failed.

The second is a hematology instrument that will be leased by TMH for 60 monthly payments of $2,412.22 per month, with an option to buy the equipment at fair market value at the end of the term.

This instrument will replace a model currently under lease by TMH’s lab.
