Saturday crash claims former Craig woman

One person died and another was injured in an early-morning rollover crash Saturday in Madison County, Mont.

The victim was 22-year-old Sarah Fleming, said Roger Thompson, Madison County undersheriff and deputy coroner. Fleming was a 2006 Moffat County High School graduate.

A Ford pickup truck was driving at 2:15 a.m. Saturday on U.S. Highway 287, when its driver, a male, lost control of the truck about five miles south of Ennis, Mont., according to the Montana Highway Patrol.

Fleming was riding in the Ford as a passenger, Thompson said.

The Ford had passed a semi-tractor trailer, and was in front of the semi when the driver lost control of the truck, Thompson said.

The Ford left the roadway and struck a ditch before crashing into a telephone pole, rolling onto its side and sliding into a tree.

Fleming was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver was transported to the Madison Valley Hospital in Ennis.

The crash remains under investigation.

It appears alcohol was a factor in the crash, Thompson said.
