BBQ Championship coming to Craig
The Colorado State BBQ Championship are scheduled to be in Craig from Aug. 26 to 28 at Wyman Museum, 94350 E. U.S. Hwy. 40.
Sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society and the Rocky Mountain BBQ Association, the competition will mark the first time such an event has ever taken place in Northwest Colorado. The Memorial Hospital and Craig Daily Press are sponsoring the event.
Meat classes include chicken, ribs, pork and brisket. Cash prizes up to $3,500 will be awarded.

Students to perform Broadway numbers
The vocal students of Emily Pfeifer will present highlights from “The Scarlet Pimpernel” and other popular Broadway musicals during a recital at 6 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Moffat County High School auditorium, 900 Finley Lane.
Admission is free, and refreshments will be served.
Square dance dates set for Hayden
The Greenridge Mountaineers has set dates for September for square dances in Hayden.
At 6 p.m. Sept. 17, the group will host a potluck supper and a free introduction to square dancing at Yampa Valley Feeds, 198 Lincoln Ave., Hayden.
Every Friday following, beginning at 7 p.m. Sept. 24, the Greenridge Mountaineers will host square dances, including lessons for newcomers, at the American Legion Hall, 220 S. Third St., Hayden.

Variety show set for Aug. 27
The Friday Night Variety Show has been scheduled for 7 p.m. Aug. 27 at Serendipity Coffee Shop, 576 Yampa Ave.
The evening will include desserts, coffee, poetry and music.
Performers of poetry, readings, music and comedy can sign up at 6:30 p.m. Performances will follow the order on the sign-up sheet and times will be divided equally.
