Craig Briefs: Substitute teacher orientation slated

Moffat County School District is hosting an orientation for all interested substitute teachers for the 2010-11 school year.
The meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday in the boardroom at the district administration building, 775 Yampa Ave.

Today at the fair
The Moffat County Fair is accepting entries for the youth and open class projects, home economics, junior corps in horticulture, and wool exhibits today in the Moffat County Fairgrounds Pavilion. Entries begin at 8 a.m. and close at 11 a.m. Judging of pavilion entries will begin at 12:30 p.m.
A weigh-in of market sheep and market goats will be from 10 a.m. to noon today in the livestock barn. Also in the livestock barn will be the junior division, showmanship and market class market lamb show at 5 p.m.
Today, in the swine barn, will be a check-in of market swine from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a weigh-in of market swine from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
In the barn office, entries are due for the sheep lead contest, and it is movie night at 8 p.m. in the covered picnic area.

Fundraising craft sale seeking vendors
Organizers of a fundraising craft sale this fall are seeking vendors to participate.
The craft sale, which will feature handmade items only, runs from noon to 7 p.m. Nov. 26 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 27 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4265, 419 E. Victory Way.
The cost is $10 for an 8-foot-by-6-foot space, with the tables and chairs provided.
The price of booth space benefits the VFW’s youth programs.

Wiener dog races set for Friday night
Organizers of the 92nd Annual Moffat County Fair are looking for more pet owners to register their dogs in Friday’s wiener dog races by the covered picnic area at the Moffat County Fairgrounds.
Registration takes place at 6:30 p.m. and races begin at 7 p.m.
