Community to honor retired coach

Former Moffat County High School basketball players, fellow coaches and community members are invited to honor former coach Craig Mortensen.

There will be a celebration of Mortensen’s 30-plus years as head coach of the boys and girls basketball teams at 5 p.m. Saturday at Craig Middle School.

The event, which is open to the public, will include refreshments and an alumni pick-up basketball game.

Mortensen coached the boys team from 1976 to 1994, and the girls team from 1995 to 2010.

He retired in April after recording more than 500 career wins.

Anyone who is unable to attend can send notes and stories to mort.reunion@gmail.com.
