After being without a coach for the first time in 15 years, finding a new coach took just one week for the Moffat County High School girls varsity basketball team.

Matt Ray, the assistant and junior varsity coach, was named the head coach of the team today, almost one week after coach Craig Mortensen announced his retirement.

Ray led the girls junior varsity team to a 16-3 record in 2009-10.

“We felt Matt was the obvious choice for the job,” said Richard Wildenhaus, MCHS athletic director. “He earned his spot as head coach.”
