Friday night, Pat Jones packed almost 400 coats into a van.

The traveling coat rack made its way to Meeker on Saturday, and also will pass through Rangely, Steamboat Springs, Dinosaur and Yampa, providing extra warmth to those in need this winter.

In between trips, however, the coats will be hanging in Calvary Baptist Church, where, starting today, they will be available to needy people and families in Northwest Colorado.

Love INC collected the donations and individually washed each of the coats, said Jones, director of Love INC.

The organization is a combined effort of local churches and non-profits.

From 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, people can stop by Calvary Baptist Church and choose a coat for themselves, a spouse or their children.

From snowmobiling suits to pink toddler's jackets, Jones said there is something for everyone.

"We've had a lot of support from the community," she said.

Last year, however, Jones said they had about 800 coats. Several were leftover after the coats were distributed.

While Jones said although it was disappointing the donations had waned this year, each coat is still one more adult or child that won't have to worry about battling the cold.
