Jason Steed: Thanks to organizations for education support
October 13, 2009
Craig To the editor:
Going to college can take a great deal of dedication, effort and, unfortunately, more than a little bit of money. I certainly recognize that I am fortunate to come from a town like Craig, where community organizations and individuals value education.
They have shown this through their annual support of high school seniors by awarding several scholarships. The list of local scholarships keeps growing, as does the list of thankful students.
I personally would like to thank the Craig Kiwanis Club, Craig Association of Realtors, and the Moffat County Sheriff's Office for their support in my educational endeavors.
It is through these organizations and the countless others in our community that many of my classmates and I have come to realize our goals of pursuing higher education.
I applaud them for their continuing support, even when the economy is not the most prosperous. I encourage MCHS students who are thinking about college to work hard and stay focused.
These scholarships are earned, not handed out.
