MCTA debuts 2010 guide for funding

The Moffat County Tourism Association released its 2010 event funding application Wednesday, along with new guidelines for those seeking dollars. As part of its stated mission to expand tourism to the area, the MCTA board decided it only would contribute to events for advertising outside of Moffat, Routt and Rio Blanco counties.

Andrea Luker, co-owner and operator of Bear Valley Child Learning Center, was sentenced Tuesday in Moffat County District Court for her role in welfare fraud. Luker, 39, pleaded guilty to theft of a series of $1,000 to $20,000, a Class 4 felony, and refusal to permit inspection, a petty offense.

The hubby and I returned this week from a much-needed vacation in California. We started and ended our journey in the Los Angeles area, where I hoped to spot a major movie star. The route is set, and most of the floats are accounted for. All Delaine Brown can hope for is a little good weather for Moffat County High School’s 2009 Homecoming Parade. The parade begins at 2 p.m. Friday at City Park and will travel west on Victory Way to the Safeway parking lot.

If the Moffat County High School girls varsity volleyball team is going to make a run at the playoffs, the time is now. With tonight’s homecoming game against Rifle High School, the Bulldogs can build not just a two-game winning streak, but momentum as the season enters its second half.
