- Chandace and Ryan Hampton, of Craig, announce the birth of their daughter, Kadynce Jade Hampton, at 3:53 p.m. Oct. 3, 2009, at Yampa Valley Medical Center in Steamboat Springs. The baby weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces and was 19 inches long. Grandparents are Roger and Debbie Markham, and Bill and Michelle Hampton, of Craig. The baby was welcomed home by a sibling, Malykai Hampton.
- Natasha Johnson and Dan Roasch, of Craig, announce the birth of their daughter, Alleah Mae Johnson, at 11:07 p.m. Sept. 30, 2009, at Yampa Valley Medical Center in Steamboat Springs. The baby weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces and was 21 1/4 inches long. Grandparents are Debrah and Leonard Roasch, of Elmwood, Wis., and Martin and Laurie Johnson, of Craig. The baby was welcomed home by a sibling, Tirrina Johnson.
- Amanda and Michael St. Martin, of Craig, announce the birth of their son, Zayne Brett William St. Martin, at 7:12 p.m. Sept. 29, 2009, at Yampa Valley Medical Center in Steamboat Springs. The baby weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces and was 20 1/4 inches long. Grandparents are Noreen Scroggin, of Sheridan, Wyo.; Dave and Carol Haskins, of Craig; the late Bill St. Martin, of Craig; and the late Ward Scroggin, of Sheridan, Wyo.
- Raegan M. and Christopher A. Suits, of Newport News, Va., announce the birth of their daughter, Lilian Riley Suits, on Oct. 1, 2009, at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Va. Maternal grandparents are Richard and Cindy Riley, of Hurley, Miss. Paternal grandparents are Lorna Suits and the late Alan Suits, of Craig. Great-grandparent is Jan Mauth, of Craig. The baby was welcomed home by a brother, Ethan H. Riley, 3.

- The Moffat County Tourism Association released its 2010 event funding application Wednesday, along with new guidelines for those seeking dollars. As part of its stated mission to expand tourism to the area, the MCTA board decided it only would contribute to events for advertising outside of Moffat, Routt and Rio Blanco counties.

- Andrea Luker, co-owner and operator of Bear Valley Child Learning Center, was sentenced Tuesday in Moffat County District Court for her role in welfare fraud. Luker, 39, pleaded guilty to theft of a series of $1,000 to $20,000, a Class 4 felony, and refusal to permit inspection, a petty offense.

- The route is set, and most of the floats are accounted for. All Delaine Brown can hope for is a little good weather for Moffat County High School’s 2009 Homecoming Parade. The parade begins at 2 p.m. Friday at City Park and will travel west on Victory Way to the Safeway parking lot.
