The Moffat County High School boys varsity football team (3-1 overall, 2-1 in Western Slope League), is looking to restart its winning streak tonight against the Delta High School Panthers (overall 2-2, 1-2 in WSL) at MCHS.

The 14th Judicial District Attorney’s Office filed felony charges Friday morning against former Craig Police detective Ken Johnson and local resident Tausha Merwin in Moffat County Court.

The Craig woman accused of embezzling more than $30,000 from a Steamboat Springs realty company reached an agreement to keep her out of jail, but District Judge Shelly Hill said she’s not happy with the arrangement.

Veterans Hotline: Veteran flu shots still available

The Craig Telehealth Clinic sent out postcards reminding veterans to get their flu shots. Unfortunately, the cards came out late. However, the clinic is giving flu shots on a walk-in basis, and the shots still are available.

During Thursday’s game against Rifle High School, Dustin Carlson, Moffat County High School boys varsity soccer goalkeeper, was a cool customer. With temperatures in the 40s, Carlson was focused on staying warm as much as blocking shots in the Bulldogs’ 5-2 victory.

Craig resident Carol Jacobson died from accidental drowning, according to her autopsy report. The report’s conclusion was based on evidence from the circumstances of the death, an investigation of the scene and the autopsy.

Gov. Bill Ritter has ordered U.S. and Colorado flags be lowered to half-staff on state buildings Sunday in observance of the 28th Annual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service.

The 14th Judicial District Attorney’s Office plans to file formal charges today against former Craig police detective Ken Johnson and local resident Tausha Merwin. Johnson and Merwin were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of several felonies, and both bonded out of jail the same day.
