Craig briefs: Books & Beads prepping for class

Craig Downtown Books & Beads, 543 Yampa Ave., is hosting a beading class at noon Saturday.
Participants can learn to make a set of basket-weave earrings during the class, which will include a kit to make one set of earrings, plus all the findings, beads and instructions.

VNA offering free screenings in Moffat
Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is offering free breathing screenings and asthma education during the 2009-10 school year for school-age children in Moffat, Routt and Jackson counties.

Bell ringers needed for kettle drive
The Craig Service Unit of the Salvation Army will host its annual holiday kettle drive beginning Nov. 27 and continuing each weekend through Dec. 24.
Volunteers are needed to ring the bells for the kettles that will be located at Wal-Mart and City Market.
Funds raised during the kettle campaign stay in Moffat County and are used as emergency support for county residents. The need in 2009 has surpassed that of last year and funds are dwindling rapidly, the Craig Service Unit reported.
To sign up as a bell ringer or to make a donation, call LuAnn Kline at First Baptist Church at 824-5926.
Chamber mixer from 5 to 7 p.m. today
The Craig Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors is offering its next Business After-Hours Mixer from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Hampton Inn and Suites, 377 Cedar Court.

Book club talking about ‘Lace Reader’
Page Turners book club is reading Brunonia Barry’s “The Lace Reader” this month. The book club will meet at 3 p.m. Saturday at Downtown Books, 543 Yampa Ave., to discuss the book.
Books are available at Downtown Books and the Moffat County Libraries.
